Last man standing turn out the lights

With last week's game starting to resemble a causality department, the last thing we needed was more injuries. Ner, no chance, poor Joe breaking his wrist at training, Mozza ill in bed and Alfie running a half marathon in a fantastic time, we started the day a few options down but with enough in the tank to take on a decent Barwell side. Steven turned up struggling with his groin, JB was also under the weather and Josh had a headache....I was beginning to think we were cursed.

The much changed back line had played together before and have earned some hard fought victories, today was a day for working hard, getting stuck in and holding one's nerves.
The starting 11 was - Sy in goal, Kylan RB, Reuben LB, Ethan and Melad CB, JacobK DM, JacobK and JB as CMs, Phil RM, Josh LM and Steven up front. On the bench was a returning Ollie, Harry and Shecaniah along with Lewis.

Barwell messaged midweek to see if they could use their fancy new gizmo cam to video the match, this was a first, local league Sky Sports, we'll have some of that.

I’m going to defer to Mr Brewin for the match report this week (+ embellishments).

Playing out from the back with any composure was non-existent, we reverted to getting rid of the ball as quickly as they could. There was a real lack of quality on the ball at times, with lots of players struggling. Centre midfield were overrun, with Barwell having time to bring the ball down and start attacks without any consistent pressure on the ball.
Sy didn’t really have any saves to make, but at times he stayed on his line when he should come for the ball but generally didn’t have a bad game just let down by a lack of intensity by the team to press, close players down and make challenges.

Jacob K ran himself into the ground again, he drove us forward at every opportunity and worked his socks off to keep us in the game. We ended up carrying a lot of players today as JB, Steven, Lewis and JoshW struggled with illness/injury, then the captain had to go off late in the second half after getting a massive wack on his hip. This left us with one fit sub out of a squad of 18 players!

We have one or two lacking a bit of confidence and in need of a goal, but we did have Ollie back from injury and he made an immediate impact when we came on in the first half by adding so much needed quality and pace to the attack.

Watching the video it wasn’t that bad, we created a lot of chances considering you could tell Steven and JoshW we’re struggling. We did make too many poor passes, ball watched, stood off too much but we kept in the game and caused them problems when we counterattacked quickly.

Yes, they had more quality, were well organised and kept the ball better, their keeper pulled off a great save to deny Jacob his hat trick but with a fully fit side and everyone available for the away game, then we’ll stand a chance.

Put it down to one of those off days, players missing, injuries and illnesses on a hot day etc……….

Foxes 2 - 4 Barwell
Goals - JacobK x2
Assist - Ollie
MOTM - JacobK

Thanks to..
