Cup progress for our Junior League teams

Postponements for one reason or another meant only 14 of our teams were in action over the weekend, but there were still plenty of positive performances and results.
Three of our Junior League teams were in First Round League Cup action. At Gynsill Lane the U15 Hawks caused an upset with a deserved 4-2 win against Market Bosworth from the division above. The U13 Hawks also beat higher division opposition as they won 5-1 away to Wigston while the U15 Foxes were 8-2 winners at Aylestone Park. Those three wins, along with byes for our other four teams in the Junior League, means that all 7 of our Junior League teams will be in the hat for the next round of their respective League Cups.
All our 9v9 teams went unbeaten over the weekend as Beaumont Leys School saw our U12 Foxes and U11 Foxes play their first games of the season. The U12’s beat Market Bosworth 3-2 while the U11’s saw off Kirby. Elsewhere the U12 Hawks made it two wins from two for their season with a 3-1 win at Coalville and the U12 Vixens came from two goals down to snatch a point, drawing 2-2 in Whetstone.
Gynsill Lane also saw our U9 Foxes miss out narrowly to Whetstone Panthers, while the U16 Hawks made it two wins from two for their league campaign, beating Kibworth 2-0. On Saturday the newly formed U8’s played their first friendly against Birstall with lots of positives to build on. At South Charnwood the U10 Hawks put in a good performance against Fleckney while at the afternoon game at Beaumont Leys School saw the U17’s lose 6-1 to Thurnby.
The U7’s put in a good display in challenging conditions in their early friendly at Braunstone while at the other end of the age scale, our Sunday men’s side lost 5-1 to Garats Hay.
